Our 2023 field school excavations in Gleann Leac-na-Muidhe investigated a structure used by the MacDonald chiefs of Glencoe as a hunting lodge and summer residence in the 17th century. The structure features an imposing fireplace against a gable wall and an impressive schist slab floor. Artefacts recovered from site include an array of post-medieval ceramics including imported Continental European stonewares and the ‘Glencoe Hoard’, a hoard of 36 silver and bronze coins spanning the 16th and 17th centuries.
